What a night! We’re still glowing from Refugee Action Fund’s benefit in New York City. More than 200 people packed the room and we raised $250,000 to ensure that all refugees and forcibly displaced people find safety, dignity and opportunities to rebuild their lives.
We heard from extraordinary individuals who shed light on the experiences of children who have been forcibly displaced from their homes.
Eighteen-year-old Naji Aldabaan, a refugee who fled Syria six years ago, shared his family’s harrowing journey through imprisonment and torture, displacement and resettlement in the United States.
We also heard from Alexandra Rizio, managing attorney for Safe Passage Project, an organization supported by Refugee Action Fund that provides lawyers to refugee children who are at risk of being deported and have no legal representation. She explained the critical need for free legal services for immigrant and refugee children whose lives often depend on the outcome of their cases.

I’m delighted that we raised $250,000 to continue safeguarding the dignity and wellbeing of refugees all over the world. As we look ahead to 2020, I know we will change the course of history by ensuring that all refugees have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
